El túnel de hielo fue excavado en Langjökull en 2015 y alcanza una profundidad de 550 metros en el glaciar. En el interior, los visitantes pueden ver hielo que tiene más de 1.000 años. El túnel incluye una capilla, áreas de exposición y plataformas de observación. El glaciar en sí es el segundo más grande de Islandia y cubre más de 900 kilómetros cuadrados.
