„Elsta skógræktarsvæðið er Hamrahlíðin. Þar var byrjað að planta 1957 þegar búið var að gera samning við hjónin Helgu Magnúsdóttur og Sigstein Pálsson um leigu á 29,5 hekturum lands til 75 ára. En árið 1990 var samningurinn endurnýjaður og landið stækkað í 42,6 hektara. (...) Með mikilli vinnu tókst að gera þetta svæði að skemmtilegu útivistarsvæði sem er mikið notað. Búið er að gera göngustíga og setja upp bekki. Jóatrjáasala er stór þáttur í starfi félagsins og hafa verið seld jólatré allt frá árinu 1984.“
