Private audio guide of the island for self-exploration tour

After booking, you will receive an email with access to our app and the audio guide "Iceland Complete". This offers interesting facts about the country and its people in over 340 audio stations. How does the app work? With the guides, you always have your tour guide with you! What a tour guide would normally do, your smartphone can now do: GPS-controlled, the app tells you interesting, entertaining and exciting facts about the country and its people. Connected to the audio system of your rental car, all information is automatically played to you along the way. The guides also work offline and are easy to install via the associated app. To access the guide on our app, we will give you an access code for a smartphone that you can connect to the car radio. This way, all fellow travelers in the vehicle can listen along. Please look out for this separate email after booking (also in the spam folder) and contact us if you have any problems.

Itinerary

   Day 1 — You can use this audio guide completely freely and for as long as you like! You will receive audio information at over 340 locations.

   • The more than 340 audio stations contain not only information about specific places and sights, but also about nature, the country, people, history and much more.
2. 2

   Day 2 — A small selection of the more than 30 stations in the Reykjavík area and on the Reykjanes peninsula:

   • Here you can learn more about the tectonic features of the Reykjanes peninsula. On the "bridge between the continents" you stand directly above the rift between the North American and Eurasian continental plates.
   • Since 2021, the Reykjanes peninsula has been volcanically active again and has made headlines with numerous eruptions. The app tells you more about it!
   • At the Seltún geothermal area, the app tells you more about the volcanic systems and hot spring areas in Iceland.
   • We have some stops in the Reykjavik area in the app. If you want to go on a detailed city tour with over 60 stops, you can also find the Reykjavik city tour separately within the app.

   Day 3 — A small selection of the more than 30 stations on the famous Golden Circle:

   • In several audio stations, the app tells you a lot about the geologically and historically interesting Thingvellir National Park.
   • Did you know that the name "Geysir" comes from Icelandic? You will hear more about the great-grandfather of all geysers!
   • Today, Gullfoss is one of Iceland's biggest tourist attractions, but 100 years ago it had to be saved by a farmer's daughter. The app tells what happened.
   • The app not only offers content about individual sights, but also general information about the country, people, language, history and background.

   Day 4 — A small selection of the more than 60 stations on the south coast of Iceland:

   • The app provides information not only about the famous Seljalandsfoss, but also about the surrounding area and special features on the journey there.
   • Want to know how to get to the famous gold treasure under the mighty Skógafoss waterfall? The app not only tells you, it also tells you where to find the remains of it.
   • Here are just a few examples of the stops; of course, you will not only learn about Iceland's most famous national park, but also about the many special places in its surroundings.
   • Did you know that besides the famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach, there is another glacier lagoon in southern Iceland?

   Day 5 — A small selection of the more than 40 stations in eastern Iceland:

   • There are many small fishing villages in East Iceland. You will learn more about the history of fishing, fishing techniques and the fjords of East Iceland.
   • In the Egilsstadir region you will not only hear about the forests and waterfalls in East Iceland, but also about the Icelandic Loch Ness Monster.

   Day 6 — A small selection of the more than 70 stations in northern Iceland:

   • The area around Lake Myvatn is full of surprises: the app has all the big and small highlights of the region and tells you something about them.
   • Europe's largest waterfall is not the only stop in the area of the large glacier gorge "Jökulsárgljúfur" in northern Iceland.
   • Húsavík is not only one of the most beautiful places in Iceland, but also the capital of whale watching!
   • The app not only contains information about various places in tranquil Akureyri, but also background information about the region's infrastructure, nature and museums.

   Day 7 — A small selection of the more than 60 stations in western Iceland (including the Westfjords and the Snaefellsnes peninsula):

   • In the Westfjords, you will get to know the extraordinary museums, impressive natural sites and the magnificent Dynjandi waterfall in over 15 stops.
   • The Snaefellsnes peninsula is represented in our app with over 30 audio stations. So you can learn a wide range of information about "Iceland in miniature", as the peninsula is also called.
   • What does the "Hraunfossar" waterfall, which simply flows out of the rock, have to do with the "Children's Waterfalls"? The audio guide reveals it!

   Day 8 — A small selection of the more than 20 stations in the highlands of Iceland and on the Westman Islands:

   • We also have some stops in the highlands of Iceland in the app to give you more information: Examples are the highland slopes Kjölur and Sprengisandur, the highland oases Hveravellir and Landmannalaugar and the legendary volcanoes Askja and Hekla.
   • The Westman Islands are a very special part of Iceland. That's why the app offers several exciting stops on the island of Heimaey, with information about the island's turbulent history.
